The Narrow boat Beatrice

The narrow boat Beatrice operates on the Caldon Canal in north Staffordshire, working with schools for children with additional (special) educational needs. Out of term and at weekends it welcomes social and family groups, particularly those that may benefit from its disabled facilities. Schools are carried free but a donation is asked from other groups (£130 during the week, £150 at weekends), Beatrice is based at the Cheddleton Flint Mill (A520) and normally runs from 1 April to 31 October. A qualified skipper and one or two trained crew members operate the boat, and Beatrice has facilities for self-catering. Up to 12 passengers can be accommodated in the spacious cabin.
